Thinking about it today. I came to realize that my inherent ADDness does not only come genetically passed down. Or created due to my repetitive 20 year work as an IT professional, but it is what creative intellectuals do to cope with the inherent lack of creative challenges. There are those who create and those who consume. I fortunately or unfortunately am the creative type and sometimes my work does provide a challenge that requires my creative thinking, but most often than not it only offers repetitive mundane yaks that must be stamped out. So in the meantime the brain creates problems or attention getters that really do not need attention at all, like keeping up with the news or Facebook. These are subconsciously implanted as tasks to be completed to make the brain perceive that it has more to do than what is really present. Over time this becomes the nor and things like this be one the norm at home too. You try to sit patiently and listen through your Childs story and you catch yourself background thinking about what will you immediately right afterwards. Long form attentive moments of the day only happen when you begin to fall asleep or when you are in a nice shower... It must be because the brain slows down enough to make you reflect on the thoughts rather than trying to make a 100 of them without reflection. I guess this is why worktime naps and meditation are becoming so hip these days.
JSA, wow what a movie! I typically don’t really care for overly macho movies, and for sure not constant-tension movies, but I still find that this movie has a lot to offer about the point of borders, enemies, and the brainwashing that happens on opposing border lines. It is a movie that shows that, as vulnerable little humans, we have pride, fear, loneliness, boredom, and the pursuit of a friend’s love. Sometimes the extremes that one must go to protect that love and to protect the appearance of peace, and that sometimes lies are the most humanitarian thing one can do. Park-Chan Wook knows the warmth and sheer ice-coldness of any man’s heart and he articulately puts it on display. To show you that no matter what your illusion of control you have, you are nothing but a puppet of circumstance. 8/10
