My son and my absorption

This morning like any morning while driving to work, I spent the time trying to pry daily life information out of my 7 year old and eldest son. My son is a very quiet and reserved boy, not like his father (ahemmm).  He likes to spend 3 hrs a day reading maps and Google earth.  He researches San Francisco about 1 hr per day, because he plans to move there.  He has already chosen his house in SF and neighborhood for his wife and family.  my son is also a violin player, piano player, and soccer player.  Well anyhow… in the car today he began telling me about his most wonderful day yesterday, but he quickly became quiet and closed his eyes and began shaking his head.  I tried to talk to him but he refused to respond.  He stopped talking the entire way to school, until the point were I was frustrated and flustered.  He left the car with sadness in his face and ran into school.  I sat at work and I could not shake the feeling of seeing his sad face.  I could not let that go, and drove all the way from work to his school for his lunch and surprised him in his cafeteria.  I had him introduce me to his friends and had fun conversation about Lego’s we could build.  After the lunch was done, he looked at me and hugged me. Additionally, he told me that he was so happy that I came.  He told me that he had arrived in his classroom in the morning with tears in his eyes, but now leaving lunch he was now very happy to have me there.  I sometimes get so selfish and lost in my own problems, that I do not realize that my problems are irrelevant in a world where my son’s feelings are concerned.

  1. Awesome post! Not having kids, I don't know about this, but I don't think you should neglect your own problems either. There's always a middle ground.... Helping others, especially your kids, help you in finding a solution to where you are truly having problems in your own life.

Jsa - Joint Security Area movie thoughts

JSA, wow what a movie! I typically don’t really care for overly macho movies, and for sure not constant-tension movies, but I still find that this movie has a lot to offer about the point of borders, enemies, and the brainwashing that happens on opposing border lines. It is a movie that shows that, as vulnerable little humans, we have pride, fear, loneliness, boredom, and the pursuit of a friend’s love.  Sometimes the extremes that one must go to protect that love and to protect the appearance of peace, and that sometimes lies are the most humanitarian thing one can do.  Park-Chan Wook knows the warmth and sheer ice-coldness of any man’s heart and he articulately puts it on display.  To show you that no matter what your illusion of control you have, you are nothing but a puppet of circumstance. 8/10

Top Gun Maverick Still Reckless and Fun

Imag e Credit:  image credit   Last night  my family and I watched the timeless classic where a 54 year old who is in unholy good shape , probably by blood transfusion from olympic athletes decided to keep the same job for 30-40 years and refuses all attempts at promotion. Wait, the job part of the story is hitting me a little closer to home than I like. Anyhow he is still the best at what he does , yeah we are tommy. Somehow he has the reflexes of a Korean Starcraft2 players with 5 espresso shots and is brought to run a suicide mission where he has been asked to teach these overhormonal kids on how to beat the odds. Unfortunately for him this is also a therapy session for his estranged pseudo-nepher Rooster who is the son of Maverick’s long lost best friend Goose (yeah cant make this stuff up) where is is trying to make up for accidentally killing the kids father by being fearless and reckless.  So the way he will save the kids' life is by using the same dis...
