Theory of Achievement

hamster_wheel_1
Living in this new fast-paced digital world, where you answer you text messages, your IM’s, your Facebooks, etc…  We keep trying to achieve and achieve more and more.  But do you ever stop and wonder why?  I see all the time the culture of more and more and faster and faster.
I say what is achievement without appreciation and validation?  Too many time these busy-bodies boast about task and task completed.  But, do they every stop and reflect upon what they are actually accomplishment?  We are all guilty of this at work and school.  We do and do and react, and put blinders on and feel we have accomplished something?  What in the bigger picture, department, company, society, family, the world, have we actually accomplished.
Are we just not hamsters in a wheel running, running, and stressing about whether we will get there fast enough?  We often look to better cars, better desks, better computers, better gadgets, to supposedly get us that promotion, build that hit website, or write that award-winning novel.  We live in a world of hustle padded with excuses.  This will sound corny and repetitious…but take time to sit down and reflect.  Enjoy the small battles that you have won and not the war.  Smell that fresh baked bread and slowly enjoy its texture and softness.  Sit and look at that girl in front of you and see how beautiful life is because she is there and looking back.  All-in-all enjoy the little things in life, because it is those that you will remember on your deathbed.  Sit and stare at that beautiful old book that your father gave you.  Look out the window and remember what a miracle life is.  Remember your connections in life are all that is valuable and that money and cars mean nothing.
Come on and step off that wheel…...with me……...

Jsa - Joint Security Area movie thoughts

JSA, wow what a movie! I typically don’t really care for overly macho movies, and for sure not constant-tension movies, but I still find that this movie has a lot to offer about the point of borders, enemies, and the brainwashing that happens on opposing border lines. It is a movie that shows that, as vulnerable little humans, we have pride, fear, loneliness, boredom, and the pursuit of a friend’s love.  Sometimes the extremes that one must go to protect that love and to protect the appearance of peace, and that sometimes lies are the most humanitarian thing one can do.  Park-Chan Wook knows the warmth and sheer ice-coldness of any man’s heart and he articulately puts it on display.  To show you that no matter what your illusion of control you have, you are nothing but a puppet of circumstance. 8/10

Top Gun Maverick Still Reckless and Fun

Imag e Credit:  image credit   Last night  my family and I watched the timeless classic where a 54 year old who is in unholy good shape , probably by blood transfusion from olympic athletes decided to keep the same job for 30-40 years and refuses all attempts at promotion. Wait, the job part of the story is hitting me a little closer to home than I like. Anyhow he is still the best at what he does , yeah we are tommy. Somehow he has the reflexes of a Korean Starcraft2 players with 5 espresso shots and is brought to run a suicide mission where he has been asked to teach these overhormonal kids on how to beat the odds. Unfortunately for him this is also a therapy session for his estranged pseudo-nepher Rooster who is the son of Maverick’s long lost best friend Goose (yeah cant make this stuff up) where is is trying to make up for accidentally killing the kids father by being fearless and reckless.  So the way he will save the kids' life is by using the same dis...
