A boat into the night flies among the stars.

In this episode, Captain Sisko has a mid-life crisis.
His son is getting much older and shows little desire to follow in the old man's footsteps, Jake and Dad find that they are growing apart because time is passing fast for them. His Son Jake shows no interest in going with his father on this handcrafted spaceship. But little by little Jake realized his father really wants to connect with him at some level and this is it. The story really connected with me as I have teenagers that want to spend less and less time connecting with the old man.  Jake has some irritation with his dad and they encounter some dangerous misadventures but both are up to the task. They reflect on their par and their love for each other. Moments to connect with your children are few and far apart, but these moments are all that matters whether sitting planted on this gravitational rock or when galavanting on a garage built solar sail ship into a new discovery. Enjoy then and cherish your sons and daughters every day while they still are at home.

Jsa - Joint Security Area movie thoughts

JSA, wow what a movie! I typically don’t really care for overly macho movies, and for sure not constant-tension movies, but I still find that this movie has a lot to offer about the point of borders, enemies, and the brainwashing that happens on opposing border lines. It is a movie that shows that, as vulnerable little humans, we have pride, fear, loneliness, boredom, and the pursuit of a friend’s love.  Sometimes the extremes that one must go to protect that love and to protect the appearance of peace, and that sometimes lies are the most humanitarian thing one can do.  Park-Chan Wook knows the warmth and sheer ice-coldness of any man’s heart and he articulately puts it on display.  To show you that no matter what your illusion of control you have, you are nothing but a puppet of circumstance. 8/10

Top Gun Maverick Still Reckless and Fun

Imag e Credit:  image credit   Last night  my family and I watched the timeless classic where a 54 year old who is in unholy good shape , probably by blood transfusion from olympic athletes decided to keep the same job for 30-40 years and refuses all attempts at promotion. Wait, the job part of the story is hitting me a little closer to home than I like. Anyhow he is still the best at what he does , yeah we are tommy. Somehow he has the reflexes of a Korean Starcraft2 players with 5 espresso shots and is brought to run a suicide mission where he has been asked to teach these overhormonal kids on how to beat the odds. Unfortunately for him this is also a therapy session for his estranged pseudo-nepher Rooster who is the son of Maverick’s long lost best friend Goose (yeah cant make this stuff up) where is is trying to make up for accidentally killing the kids father by being fearless and reckless.  So the way he will save the kids' life is by using the same dis...
