I guess mmm.. yeah I’m back

Hello, my friends, family, and perhaps some interested readers. Yes, it seems I am back!

Why am I back, you ask? Well, let’s see. I woke up at 4 AM for no particular reason and felt restless. I remembered I had this blog… a space for fun thoughts and reflections. Unfortunately, I lost the original template, and a domain squatter took over my original domain because my autoplay feature failed. So here we are!

I got to work recovering my domain names, and with the help of trusty GitHub Copilot, I was able to use archive.org to retrieve my site from 2019 and bring it back.

I have a complicated relationship with AI. I appreciate its efficiency and the way it reduces mundane tasks, but I also see it as an existential threat to human creativity, culture, and our diminishing attention spans. I believe my blog helps me reflect, journal, and share the thoughts I truly value on “digital paper.”

I hope to write and post more in the future. I wish all of you well after these past three years, and I hope for the best for everyone in this new year!

Jsa - Joint Security Area movie thoughts

JSA, wow what a movie! I typically don’t really care for overly macho movies, and for sure not constant-tension movies, but I still find that this movie has a lot to offer about the point of borders, enemies, and the brainwashing that happens on opposing border lines. It is a movie that shows that, as vulnerable little humans, we have pride, fear, loneliness, boredom, and the pursuit of a friend’s love.  Sometimes the extremes that one must go to protect that love and to protect the appearance of peace, and that sometimes lies are the most humanitarian thing one can do.  Park-Chan Wook knows the warmth and sheer ice-coldness of any man’s heart and he articulately puts it on display.  To show you that no matter what your illusion of control you have, you are nothing but a puppet of circumstance. 8/10
